Saturday, March 21, 2026 | Memorial Hall | Kansas City, KS Stream Live: MMA Futures
Synergy FC 27 is in the books. Eighteen bouts. Three new kickboxing champions. A bare-knuckle debut for the ages. And a five-round welterweight title war that went down to the final bell at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. Here’s how the night unfolded.
MAIN EVENT RESULT: Nick “King Black Cat” Meck vs. Austin “Osmosis” Jones
Synergy FC Welterweight Title — 5 Rounds — Nick Meck def. Austin Jones via Split Decision (48-47, 47-48, 48-47)
Nick Meck is still your Synergy FC Welterweight Champion — and he earned it across every one of those five rounds.
Nick Meck has been wrestling since he was four years old. Four-time state qualifier in Kansas. All-American in college. Seven years into his MMA career at 31 years old, he walked into Memorial Hall as champion and walked out the same way — though not without a fight.
Meck established his game plan immediately: constant takedown pressure, top control, and the relentless cardio he has spent years building. He took rounds one and two with dominant grappling, keeping Austin Jones on his back and limiting his offense. But Jones — a 27-fight professional with world-stage experience — began finding his rhythm in the middle rounds. He landed sharp elbows from bottom position, created scrambles that bought him time on the feet, and outworked Meck in rounds three and four with enough activity to claw the fight back even.
By the fifth round, both men were running on instinct. Meck came out swinging, turned up his output, and landed some of the harder shots of the night in the closing minutes. When the final bell sounded, the judges returned a split decision — 48-47, 47-48, 48-47 — in favor of the champion. King Black Cat heads back to Marathon MMA with his belt intact.
Austin Jones was gracious in defeat. At 16-11 with nearly 30 professional fights, his journey continues. He belonged in that cage on Saturday night.
CO-MAIN RESULT: James “Funky Cold” Regina vs. Tivon Taylor
Light Heavyweight — Professional MMA — Regina def. Taylor via TKO, Round 1 (1:31)
James Regina started training because his girlfriend broke up with him. On Saturday night, he delivered one of the most chaotic first rounds Memorial Hall has seen in years.
Regina had said before the fight that he and Tivon Taylor would give the crowd fireworks from the start. He wasn’t wrong. Taylor opened aggressively and wobbled Regina early with a big right hand. Then came a wild leg lock exchange that put both fighters on the canvas simultaneously — a double knockdown that had the building on its feet. In the scramble that followed, Taylor appeared to pause when he thought the referee was stepping in to intervene. Regina didn’t pause. He seized the moment, landed ground-and-pound, and referee Nick Barron stopped the contest at 1:31 of round one.
Taylor sustained a significant ankle injury — visibly swollen immediately after the fight. Regina, now 5-4 as a professional, moves forward. “I wanted to show the power in my hand and hurt him with every punch,” he said post-fight. “And that’s what I did.”
He’s also never had a boring night. Ten years in. Still showing up.
BARE KNUCKLE RESULT: Victor Demesmin Jr. vs. Rayne Wells
Bare Knuckle — Super Middleweight — Professional — Demesmin def. Wells via TKO, Round 3 (0:25)
Victor Demesmin Jr. is a full-time attorney from Fort Lauderdale. He manages professional bare knuckle fighters — including former BKFC champions. He runs a law firm. He had a four-year-old son cage side on Saturday night. And he made his professional bare knuckle debut and won.
The fight itself was every bit as entertaining as the story. Wells put Demesmin down twice in round one, but the attorney got back up both times. Demesmin landed a knockdown of his own in round two. In round three, he clipped Wells on the temple with a right hand as Wells came forward, followed immediately with a second shot, and referee Nick Barron waved it off at 0:25. Demesmin — with BKFC champion Lorenzo Hunt in his corner — went 1-0 in his first combat sports fight at any level.
His post-fight speech drew a standing ovation. “This is my first fight ever,” he said. “No amateur, no nothing. I came in here and I put it all on the line.” He called out Dave Feldman and BKFC by name. The journey continues.
BARE KNUCKLE RESULT: JW Kiser vs. Troy Depriest
Bare Knuckle — Heavyweight — Professional — Kiser def. Depriest via KO, Round 1 (0:57)
JW “Mad Cannons” Kiser said it would be over in round one. It was over in round one. The Leavenworth legend waited for his moment, let Depriest come in, and landed a left hand flush on the chin that ended it at 0:57. “Sorry it took so long,” Kiser said into the mic.
No gloves. Two heavyweights. One punch. Never say never on a JW Kiser retirement.
KICKBOXING TITLE RESULTS
Amateur 170 lb Title: Tyler “Naughty” Nolte def. Jordan “Larry” Birch via Split Decision — NEW CHAMPION
Tyler Nolte works construction. His favorite dinosaur is the Utah Raptor. He’s been training for three years. And now he’s the Synergy FC Amateur 170-pound Kickboxing Champion.
The game plan from Inferno Martial Arts was clear from the opening bell: pressure, volume, and low kicks — don’t let the longer, more decorated Jordan Birch settle into his rhythm. Nolte executed it across all three rounds, staying on the gas and frustrating Birch enough that two of the three judges gave it to the construction worker from Arkansas. The scores: 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 — with one judge for Birch. A new champion is crowned.
Amateur 185 lb Title: Taye Collier def. Khalil Holloway via Split Decision — NEW CHAMPION
Taye Collier is your new Synergy FC Amateur 185-pound Kickboxing Champion after a closely contested three-round battle with Khalil Holloway. Collier — coming off a highlight-reel spinning back kick KO in his last outing — had to deal with Holloway’s unorthodox angles and relentless stalking pressure all night. The judges saw it 29-28, 29-28 for Collier and 30-27 for Holloway. Collier takes the belt.
Amateur 135 lb Title: Colin Reed def. Sawyer “The Silverback” Andresen via TKO (Leg Kicks), Round 3 (0:57) — NEW CHAMPION
Colin Reed is 19 years old, 5-0, and now the Synergy FC Amateur 135-pound Kickboxing Champion — and he looks like he could go another three rounds after doing it.
Reed threw the same low kick at Sawyer Andresen until Andresen’s leg gave out. The knockdown came at the end of round two. In round three, Reed went right back to the same weapon. Andresen’s leg buckled again, and referee Nick Barron stopped it at 0:57. Andresen — a wind turbine technician from Iowa who took his first four fights without ever stepping in a gym — gave everything he had.
Every event streams live and on demand — full cards, replays, and the archive.
Watch on MMA FuturesReed grabbed the mic after and called out current Synergy FC titleholder Mitchell Gilmore by name. “I think I’m better than you. I’d love another shot at him.” The Apex Combat Sports product is a problem at 135 pounds.

AMATEUR MMA RESULTS
Amateur Heavyweight Title: Bernard “Baby B” Sosoatu def. Trent Smeltzer via KO (Ground and Pound), Round 1 (1:47) — NEW CHAMPION
Baby B is undefeated, uncrowned no more, and completely dominant. The 21-year-old from Ignite MMA used a knee to the body to break Smeltzer down, then finished with ground-and-pound. He moves to 4-0 and claimed the Synergy FC Amateur Heavyweight Championship. His post-fight message was simple: if you have a dream, work for it and follow all the way through.
Lightweight: Dylan “Lil’ Caveman” Woosley def. Brody Atchison via TKO (Ground and Pound), Round 1 (2:15)
The moment of the night. Atchison — undefeated, 19 years old, a legitimate prospect — had Woosley in trouble before Woosley circled out, smiled, and dropped him with one right hand. Woosley finished with ground-and-pound and handed Atchison his first professional defeat. He then called out Mitchell Gilmore. Woosley bounces back from his own first loss in emphatic fashion.
Bantamweight: Nuh “Captain Nuh” Robertson def. Cade Wathke via TKO, Round 1 (0:43)
Robertson had to wait out a mid-card delay — his pre-fight physical hadn’t been completed when he walked out, forcing him to go backstage while the card continued. He channeled it into 43 seconds of relentless power shots that overwhelmed the experienced Wathke the moment the fight started. Robertson moves to 5-1 and looks as dangerous as ever.
Welterweight: James “Bucky” Buckhanan def. Landon “Smash” Berger via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Back from a three-year layoff and up a weight class, Buckhanan ground out a hard-fought unanimous decision over the surging 19-year-old prospect Berger across three grappling-heavy rounds. One judge saw it a dominant 30-27 for Buckhanan — commentators found that generous.
Bantamweight: Juan Reyes def. Dylan “Dilly Dilly” Wilson via TKO (Ground and Pound), Round 3 (2:14)
Reyes was relentless from the opening bell — takedowns, top pressure, ground-and-pound in every round. Wilson showed his toughness and threatened with a guillotine in the third, but Reyes maintained position and poured on enough shots for referee Nick Barron to step in. Reyes collects his fourth amateur victory.
Women’s Flyweight: Grace “Gunflash” McLin def. Lindsay Hughes via Unanimous Decision
McLin was dominant from start to finish, catching kicks to secure takedowns in rounds one and two and controlling Hughes on the ground with the confidence of someone who has been on the mat since she was four years old. The 20-year-old from Ignite MMA remains undefeated at 3-0. Commentators were calling for a title shot against Cricket Justice post-fight.
Heavyweight: Julijano Sokoli def. Spencer “Mad Titan” Seymer via TKO (Ground and Pound), Round 1 (2:14)
Sokoli, 6-1 with five first-round finishes, added another one. Seymer took him down early and had success on top, but Sokoli reversed position, stood up, and threw uppercuts and hammer fists until the fight was stopped. He is unassumingly violent and one of the more dangerous heavyweights on the regional scene.
Catchweight (140 lbs): Kohen Schoshke def. Michael Domino via Submission (Rear Naked Choke), Round 1 (2:47)
Domino used his collegiate wrestling background to take Schoshke down and control him, but Schoshke hit a slick hip bump sweep from bottom, went straight to the back, and sunk the rear naked choke immediately. Two and one as an amateur. When he makes a mistake, Schoshke makes you pay.
Heavyweight: Josh “Kill Shot” Davis def. Ethan Mireles via TKO, Round 1 (0:56)
MMA debut. Former Missouri Western defensive lineman. Backed up by UFC veteran Zach Scroggins and the Marathon MMA team. Davis absorbed an early right hand from Mireles, recovered, then walked him down with a jab-right hand combination that ended the fight at 0:56. The Kill Shot nickname is earned.
KICKBOXING UNDERCARD RESULTS
185 lbs: Josiah Davis def. Abad Akhtar via Unanimous Decision (29-28 x3) — Davis’s first kickboxing victory, earned with relentless pressure and volume across all three rounds.
Women’s 125 lbs: Priska “Lethal” Lay def. Maria “Mala” Perez via Unanimous Decision (30-27 x3) — Lay, returning to kickboxing for the first time since 2021 at 41 years old, was dominant from the opening knockdown and finished the third round going for a stoppage. A 17-year age gap. It didn’t matter.
