Hope Misner MMA: Fighting With Purpose
Hope Misner knew what she wanted her decision to fight to mean beyond a single night. In an interview on May 6, 2026, she described a purpose that included people who may never compete at all.
“I want to be the person that other women and little girls and everybody can look up to.”
That ambition gives her fighting a wider frame. It is not limited to winning, and it is not limited to persuading someone else to enter a cage. Misner wants women and girls to see what commitment can look like, then decide what courage and preparation mean in their own lives.
For Misner, visibility points toward action. The example she offers is built from choosing, preparing and stepping forward despite risk, not from asking everyone to follow the same path.
Nine days after that interview, Misner defeated Jacque Washington by TKO in a women’s MMA fight at DCS 108 Spring Brawl. The event took place May 15, 2026, at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska. The result supplied a clear example of the seriousness she had described before the fight.
The decision that demanded commitment
“Once I decided that I was gonna take a fight, I locked in, I got serious about it.”
Misner’s wording matters. She does not present commitment as something that arrived by accident. The choice came first. Once made, it changed the standard she set for herself. “Locked in” is a compact description of sacrifice: accepting that a decision carries responsibilities after the initial excitement has passed.
That sequence also connects purpose to preparation. Wanting to inspire someone is an intention. Following through on the work required to compete turns that intention into something other people can observe. Misner’s TKO win does not prove that fear disappeared. Her own explanation suggests that fear is not the relevant test.
Making room for surprise
“If we’re always afraid of being hurt, we’re never going to do something that surprises ourselves.”
Misner does not deny the possibility of getting hurt. She identifies what can be lost when avoiding hurt becomes the rule for every decision: the chance to discover an ability that had not yet been tested. The surprise in her statement is personal. It is not about performing for an audience. It is about meeting a version of yourself that caution alone would never reveal.

Watch on MMA FuturesHer approach is grounded in effort rather than a promise that every attempt will end well. That distinction keeps the message useful outside competition. A person can choose to prepare, act and learn without pretending the risk is absent.
“I will never be the girl that sits out. I will always be the girl that does more or tries harder.”
The line captures the form of grit Misner wants to model. “Tries harder” leaves room for difficulty while refusing passivity. It also makes inspiration concrete. Looking up to someone does not have to mean copying her path. It can mean recognizing the habit behind it: participation, extra effort and a willingness to test an assumption about what is possible.
A purpose bigger than competition
MMA Futures is deepening its women’s combat-sports coverage in 2026. Misner’s perspective shows why that coverage can reach beyond fight results. Her stated goal includes self-protection, personal agency and women who have no desire to become fighters.
“I just want to inspire more women whether you want to step into a cage or not. You do not have to ever step into a cage, but learn how to protect yourself.”
That is the clearest expression of her angle on purpose. The cage is one setting, not the entry requirement for her message. Misner separates competition from the practical value of learning how to protect yourself. In doing so, she gives women more than one way to respond to her example.
Her DCS 108 result belongs in the story because it followed the commitment she described. But the result is not the boundary of that story. Misner wants the effect to travel outward: to women considering self-defense, to girls looking for an example and to anyone who has allowed fear of being hurt to make a decision in advance.
