Houston Alexander had not lost a bare knuckle fight. He is 54 years old, he fought in the UFC, and he came into Friday night 5-0 without gloves. Joey Munoz had not competed since 2019. Five rounds later the judges gave Munoz the cruiserweight title by unanimous decision, and the best story on a nineteen-bout card belonged to a firefighter from Scottsbluff who had spent seven years away from it.
Main Event: Joey Munoz Takes the Cruiserweight Title
Munoz and Alexander went the full five rounds, the only bout on the card to do so, and Munoz took the unanimous decision for the Nebraska bare knuckle boxing cruiserweight title. It ends Alexander’s unbeaten bare knuckle run and gives Munoz a championship in his first fight back.
Munoz had been direct about the gap before the fight. “Three years ago I joined the fire department over at Scottsbluff,” he said in an MMA Futures interview, “so I’ve been really dedicating myself to the service and getting comfortable there before I jumped back into a cage or a ring.” He had called Alexander “a legend” and framed the fight as a state affair: “We’re just two Nebraska guys who love to fight.”
Co-Main: Darrick Minner Wins the Bare Knuckle MMA Title in Under Two Minutes
Darrick Minner submitted Sean Wilson by rear naked choke at 1:45 of the first round to take the Nebraska bare knuckle MMA lightweight title. Minner brought 41 professional fights and a UFC run into it; Wilson, 42, had weighed in a tenth of a pound apart from him a day earlier. It lasted one round.

Mason Dykes kept the amateur welterweight championship, stopping Colby Frith by TKO at 1:07 of the first. Dykes is now 7-0 and has still never been past the second round.
The bantamweight belt moved. David Stephenson submitted champion Tucker Charron at 1:25 of the second round to take the title — the only championship on the card to change hands by finish.
Isaiah Robinson, 19, Stops Jeff Souder
In bare knuckle boxing, 19-year-old Isaiah Robinson forced a verbal submission from Jeff Souder at 1:15 of the first round. Souder, 9-3 out of Skywalker 101, played college football at UNO and has been fighting since 2006. It was Robinson’s first bare knuckle bout.
